ATIDI Marks 25 Years of Impact as Angola Hosts Landmark AGM

The African Trade & Investment Development Insurance (ATIDI) is celebrating 25 years of unlocking trade and investment across Africa with its milestone 25th Annual General Meeting (AGM), hosted in Luanda, Angola from June 18–21, 2025.

Held under the theme “Turning Risk into Opportunity, Securing a Sustainable Future,” the gathering underscores ATIDI’s role in facilitating over USD88 billion in trade and investment across the continent.

The AGM has attracted high-level delegates from ATIDI’s 24 African member states, 13 institutional shareholders, development finance institutions, and strategic partners. It will feature discussions on strengthening partnerships, showcasing progress, and aligning future initiatives with Africa’s development goals.

Manuel Moses, CEO of ATIDI, hailed the organization’s journey from concept to a powerful development catalyst: “Over the past 25 years, ATIDI has evolved into a leading force in Africa’s development landscape. We continue to rethink risk and deliver innovative solutions that drive inclusive, resilient, and sustainable growth.”

ATIDI’s commitment to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles is evident in initiatives like the Regional Liquidity Support Facility (RLSF), which has backed nine clean energy projects generating 181.95 MW and mobilizing over USD323.7 million in finance.

The AGM also highlights ATIDI’s strategic partnerships, including a landmark agreement with Germany’s KfW Development Bank to boost SME financing and cross-border trade efficiency.

The enhanced support for COMESA’s Regional Customs Transit Guarantee (RCTG) Scheme is enabling smoother trade flows under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Benjamin Mugisha, ATIDI’s Chief Underwriting Officer, emphasized: “Sustainability is central to our mandate. Our investments promote climate resilience, social inclusion, and long-term economic growth in line with Agenda 2063 and the SDGs.”

Angola, a member of ATIDI since 2023 and current Chair of the African Union, was selected as this year’s host in recognition of its leadership in regional integration and development. ATIDI has already facilitated infrastructure projects worth over USD2 billion in Angola, including water, energy, and gas sectors.

As part of the AGM, ATIDI will present its 2024 performance results, host strategic sessions, approve new initiatives, and hold an investor roundtable. The event not only celebrates ATIDI’s legacy but sets the stage for deepening collaboration toward a secure, prosperous, and sustainable future for Africa.
