Zambia Seeks Chinese Partnerships as Minister Tours Key Firms at Hunan Expo

Zambia’s Minister of Commerce, Trade and Industry, Hon. Chipoka Mulenga, has reaffirmed the government’s support for local businesses and youth entrepreneurs participating in international trade events.

This follows his tour of Zambian stands at the China–Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE) held in Changsha, Hunan Province.

The Minister engaged with Zambian traders and youth exhibitors, commending their innovation and commitment. He encouraged them to remain visible on the global trade platform and assured continued government facilitation for their participation in such expos.

“Your presence here is a sign of Zambia’s growing entrepreneurial spirit,” Hon. Mulenga said. “The government will keep supporting platforms that promote our businesses and empower our youth.”

Young entrepreneurs attending under the International Trade Centre banner showcased products ranging from agriculture tech to fashion and value-added goods. Hon. Mulenga praised their energy and urged them to inspire more youth to pursue global market exposure.

He also instructed the Zambian Embassy in China to actively scout for further opportunities for Zambian enterprise participation and provide necessary support for visibility and competitiveness.

Following the tour, the Minister held meetings with leading Chinese firms, including Launch Design Automotive, FARMSUM Company Ltd, and Sionmarch Agricultural Machinery, exploring investment and partnership prospects in automotive design, agro-processing, and agricultural equipment.

The CAETE, a biennial event, brings together African and Chinese leaders, businesses, and trade institutions to foster investment and commerce. The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) also facilitated a delegation of Zambian businesses to showcase goods and services at the event.
