Superintendent Changu Maruza of the Zambia Police Service has successfully completed the 187th International Training Course on Criminal Justice with a focus on money laundering, held in Tokyo, Japan.

Representing Zambia among participants from 11 nations, Maruza joined fellow criminal justice professionals to strengthen global cooperation in the fight against financial crimes.

The program, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and coordinated by the United Nations Asia and Far East Institute for the Prevention of Crime and the Treatment of Offenders (UNAFEI), included expert-led sessions on legal frameworks, investigative strategies, and international collaboration.

Participants from countries such as Pakistan, Ethiopia, South Sudan, and Vietnam delivered presentations outlining domestic anti-money laundering measures, while also learning from global trends.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Japan, H.E. Tobias Mulundika, attended the closing ceremony and congratulated Ms. Maruza for her accomplishment.

Speaking to Police News, she described the course as “enlightening,” adding that it has sharpened her ability to contribute effectively to Zambia’s anti-money laundering strategies.
