Zambia Strengthens Strategic Ties in China to Boost Youth, Sports, and Creative Industries

The Ministry of Youth, Sport and Arts is intensifying efforts to attract strategic investment partnerships in China, aligning with President Hakainde Hichilema’s 2024 state visit aimed at unlocking Zambia’s development potential.

Minister Hon. Elvis C. Nkandu, currently in China on a working mission, has been engaging top Chinese companies and institutions to explore collaborative opportunities in youth empowerment, sports development, and the creative industry.

Among the key stakeholders he has met are solar solutions provider Fanye Energy, a renowned motorbike manufacturing plant, and Higer Bus Company—an established partner with Zambia.

“This visit is about turning diplomatic goodwill into development gains,” Hon. Nkandu said. “China’s rapid economic growth provides a blueprint and a chance for Zambia to attract investment that benefits our youth and creative economy.”

Hon. Nkandu is accompanied by Permanent Secretary Mr. Kangwa Chileshe and senior officials. The delegation has been holding high-level meetings focused on sourcing affordable sports equipment, securing investments in the arts, and building partnerships for youth entrepreneurship and skills training.

In a notable development, the Ministry has revived discussions with Fanye Energy on the installation of solar technology at National Heroes Stadium and Levy Mwanawasa Stadium—a step towards reducing national energy costs and advancing Zambia’s green energy agenda.
