Hon. Nkandu Engages Wuxi City to Boost Youth and Sports Development

Zambia’s Minister of Youth, Sport and Arts Hon. Elvis C. Nkandu, MP, has held key engagements in Wuxi, China, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation in youth development, sports, and the arts.

Hon. Nkandu, accompanied by Permanent Secretary Mr. Kangwa Chileshe and other senior officials, paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Wuxi, Mr. Zhao Jianjun, who was represented by Mr. Lee Tao, President of the Wuxi Federation of the Returned Overseas Chinese.

Discussions focused on enhancing Zambia-China relations through initiatives that empower youth and promote sports and creative industries.

The delegation later toured a major textile manufacturing company in Wuxi to explore opportunities for sourcing affordable and quality sportswear for Zambian athletes.

The proposed partnership is expected to benefit the National Sports Council of Zambia by providing durable and cost-effective attire for national and grassroots teams.

The textile company expressed interest in supplying customized sportswear to Zambia, while Hon. Nkandu emphasized the importance of such collaborations in improving sports performance and deepening industrial ties between the two countries.

Hon. Nkandu thanked the City of Wuxi for its hospitality and expressed optimism that the engagements will translate into tangible outcomes that support Zambia’s youth, sports, and arts sectors.
