FAZ Utilizes FIFA Window to Sharpen National Teams
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) says it is pleased with the active participation of its national teams during the ongoing FIFA international window, as preparations intensify for upcoming major tournaments.
FAZ President Keith Mweemba extended his best wishes to the Zambia Women National Team—Copper Queens—as they face South Africa this afternoon in their second friendly of the window.
The match is part of the team’s build-up to the 2025 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) scheduled for July.
“We wish our Copper Queens all the best as they face African champions South Africa. This is an important step in our WAFCON preparations,” said Mweemba.
On the men’s side, the senior national team—Chipolopolo—is set to travel to Morocco for international friendlies against Sudan and Tunisia on June 6 and 10 respectively.
These matches are designed to sharpen the squad ahead of the 2025 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in September and October, and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in December.
Meanwhile, the local-based Chipolopolo players preparing for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) in August will depart on Wednesday for the COSAFA Championship in South Africa.
Mweemba reaffirmed FAZ’s commitment to keeping national teams active and competitive during every available window, noting that regular high-level engagements are crucial for tournament readiness.
