Chinese Embassy Backs First-Ever Invest-Zambia International Conference
The Chinese Embassy in Zambia has pledged full support for the upcoming Invest-Zambia International Conference (IZIC), scheduled to take place from July 16th to 18th, 2025 in Lusaka, in a move expected to further strengthen economic ties between Zambia and China.
Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Director General Albert Halwampa expressed gratitude for the embassy’s endorsement, revealing that discussions are already in progress to sign investment agreements with several Chinese companies during the conference.
Mr. Halwampa also welcomed a proposal to host a seminar on the sidelines of IZIC featuring the China-Africa Development Fund, aimed at exploring financing options for investors looking to tap into Zambia’s diverse economic sectors.
“We remain committed to working with the Chinese business community through their chambers and associations to mobilise investment into Zambia,” said Halwampa. “Our plans include hosting investment forums in various provinces of China to showcase Zambia as a top destination for investment.”
Chinese Embassy Counsellor Jin Jun confirmed their active participation in IZIC 2025, reaffirming China’s longstanding economic partnership with Zambia.
“The embassy is happy to support IZIC,” Mr. Jin stated. “China is one of Zambia’s largest investors, and we look forward to mobilising our chambers of commerce and business associations to ensure meaningful engagement during the event.”
