Ambassador Chibesakunda Presents Credentials to Polish President, Calls for Stronger Bilateral Ties

Her Excellency Mrs. Winnie Chibesakunda has officially presented her Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Andrzej Duda, President of the Republic of Poland, accrediting her as Zambia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Poland on a non-resident basis.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at the historic Belvedere Palace in Warsaw.

Ambassador Chibesakunda conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from President Hakainde Hichilema and the Zambian people to the Polish Government, expressing Zambia’s commitment to deepening diplomatic relations.

In a private meeting following the ceremony, President Duda acknowledged the strong ties between Poland and Zambia and reaffirmed Poland’s commitment to expanding cooperation, particularly in education, ICT, and energy.

Ambassador Chibesakunda expressed gratitude for Poland’s assistance during the evacuation of Zambian students from Ukraine at the onset of the war, describing it as a symbol of enduring friendship.

She emphasized Zambia’s openness to investment and partnership, particularly in sectors that can drive development and job creation.

Highlighting the impact of the 2023/2024 drought on Zambia’s food security, the Ambassador appealed for Polish investment in mechanized agriculture, including irrigation and water harvesting technologies, and in alternative energy solutions to reduce reliance on hydropower.

Ambassador Chibesakunda also acknowledged the compassionate role of Polish missionaries and nuns in Zambia, with special mention of Kasisi Orphanage, as a testament to the long-standing people-to-people connection between the two nations.

President Duda welcomed the Ambassador’s remarks and assured her of Poland’s continued support throughout her diplomatic mission.
