President Hichilema Congratulates Dr. Sidi Ould Tah on Election as AfDB President
President Hakainde Hichilema has extended Zambia’s warm congratulations to Dr. Sidi Ould Tah following his election as President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), highlighting the pivotal role his leadership will play in driving the continent’s economic transformation.
In his statement, President Hichilema emphasized the importance of strengthening partnerships with the AfDB, reaffirming Zambia’s commitment to collaborate in promoting sustainable development, financial inclusion, and infrastructure expansion.
He also emphasized the need to prioritise production over consumption as a pathway to lasting prosperity.
“Your leadership will be crucial in driving our continent’s economic transformation. Zambia remains committed to working closely with the AfDB to advance sustainable growth, financial inclusion, and infrastructure development across the continent,” President Hichilema stated.
The Zambian Head of State further assured Dr. Tah of Zambia’s full support throughout his tenure, expressing confidence in the AfDB’s continued role in catalysing progress across Africa.
Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, formerly the Director General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), brings decades of experience in economic policy and development finance to his new role at the helm of the continent’s premier financial institution.
