Zambia Calls for Global Green Cooperation at Sinoma Intelligence Summit in China

Zambia’s Ambassador to China says global cooperation and coordination is important as the world tackles climate change and develops intelligent, climate-smart manufacturing practices.

A statement issued by Second Secretary Communications at the Zambian mission in Beijing Catherine Muumba Kashoti, Dr Ivan Zyuulu was speaking at the opening ceremony of the 3rd Sinoma Green Intelligence Summit in Hefei, Anhui Province in China.

The envoy, who recognized the impact of climate change, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to join industry leaders, government officials, academicians, and diplomats who were looking at the future of cement production through sustainable and low-carbon technology.

He said such meetings were significant in shaping useful policy frameworks to replace outdated technology which threatened humanity’s survival.

Dr Zyuulu said Zambia had abundant natural resources that were essential for advancing green and intelligent development, aligning with the summit’s theme.

He called for enhanced cooperation and coordination to ensure the efficient utilization of such resources as well as the transfer of skills and knowledge between Zambia and China, particularly through partnerships with companies such as Sinoma.

He said the Zambian Government would continue providing a conducive business environment coupled with a sound policy framework in line with the country’s Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP) to accelerate the creation of a diversified and resilient economy.

Ambassador Zyuulu also had a bilateral meeting with China National Building Material Group Chairman Zhou Yuxian on the sidelines of the summit to discuss developments in the industry and potential areas of collaboration.

China National Building Material Group was the parent company of Sinoma.

He urged Mr Zhou to coordinate a team of investors to support Zambia’s agriculture, mining, and energy sectors, emphasizing their importance in driving the nation’s economy.

Mr Zhou said his company, which was willing to work with Zambia, was ready to establish partnerships with Zambian businesses across various industries.

This year’s Sinoma Green Intelligence Summit, which is being held under the theme “Green Intelligence Empowers Cooperation,” has attracted diplomats, industry captains, government officials, corporate executives and international business partners.
