Cassava Technologies and Zindi Partner to Advance African AI Innovation
Cassava Technologies, a global technology leader of African heritage, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Zindi, Africa’s largest professional network for data scientists.
The partnership aims to drive artificial intelligence (AI) innovation and deliver GPU-as-a-Service (GPUaaS) solutions across the African continent.
This strategic alliance is expected to significantly enhance digital transformation across Africa by empowering developers, startups, and AI professionals. Under the MOU, Cassava will make its advanced GPU infrastructure available to support Zindi’s AI development initiatives.
The two organisations will also explore mutual opportunities to integrate their platforms and tap into each other’s technological ecosystems.
“For Africa’s AI ecosystem to grow and thrive, it is essential to provide platforms and resources for the continent’s developers and start-ups,” said Hardy Pemhiwa, President and Group CEO of Cassava Technologies. “Combining our data centres’ advanced GPU capabilities with Zindi’s innovative data science platform creates a powerful foundation for digital advancement. Cassava is proud to support local stakeholders as they develop digital solutions to some of Africa’s most pressing problems.”
Zindi, a pioneering African AI platform, engages with corporations, non-profit organisations, and governments to create AI-driven challenges that address real-world issues. This partnership will further Zindi’s mission to democratise access to AI resources and nurture local talent.
“Zindi is thrilled at the opportunity to partner with Cassava Technologies to strengthen African datasets, address local problems with locally-developed solutions, and help more African AI builders access the resources they need to succeed,” said Celina Lee, CEO and Co-Founder of Zindi. “Collaborating on the launch of a challenge specifically aimed at nurturing Africa’s AI talent will not only expose entrepreneurs and innovative solutions; it will help build new skills and create employment opportunities.”
The MOU also aligns with Cassava’s long-term vision to promote responsible AI development. It follows the company’s recent launch of its AI business in 2024 and plans to establish Africa’s first AI factory.
Through this partnership, Cassava and Zindi are poised to make a lasting impact on the continent’s AI landscape, empowering innovators to create solutions tailored to Africa’s unique challenges.
