BEB Partners with Zambian Gov’t to Combat Child Trafficking Through Technology
Global non-profit Both Ends Believing (BEB) has partnered with the Zambian government to strengthen the country’s child protection systems through the use of innovative technology aimed at fighting child trafficking and enhancing case management for children in institutional care.
During a high-level meeting with the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, BEB’s International Vice President for Strategic Partnership, Mr. Frank Garrett, engaged Permanent Secretary Ms. Angela Kawandami on collaborative efforts to support vulnerable children.
Central to the discussions was BEB’s “Child First Software,” a robust Information Management System already deployed in 18 childcare facilities across Zambia.
The software is designed to improve documentation, monitor child welfare cases, and facilitate the reintegration of children into safe family environments. Highlighting Zambia’s strategic position as a transit country for child trafficking, Ms. Kawandami stressed the urgent need for reliable tools that help track and protect children.
“This system can be a powerful tool in addressing the growing challenge of child trafficking by providing reliable documentation and monitoring of children in care,” she said, calling for a clear implementation roadmap to ensure a structured and impactful rollout.
Mr. Garrett noted that the Child First Software has shown success in other countries such as Uganda and Cambodia, where it has helped track at-risk children and prevent exploitation.
He emphasized the system’s adaptability to national contexts and its potential to safeguard Zambian children.
“The partnership with the Zambian government demonstrates a shared commitment to protecting every child’s right to safety, care, and family,” Garrett said.
Both parties expressed optimism that the collaboration will reinforce national efforts to address child trafficking and promote long-term child welfare across Zambia.
