Zambia and Ghana Deepen Tourism Ties Through Bilateral Talks
The Ministry of Tourism has engaged in fruitful bilateral discussions with a high-level delegation from Ghana led by Honourable Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Ghana’s Minister of Tourism. The talks, held in Livingstone, were aimed at enhancing cooperation in tourism development, cultural exchange, and mutual sectoral growth.
Representing Zambia were Minister of Tourism Hon. Rodney Sikumba, Permanent Secretary Evans Muhanga, and senior government officials. The two sides explored opportunities to boost tourism flows and strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors in both countries.
Key points of discussion included hospitality and tourism skills development, the promotion of cultural heritage tourism, and visa facilitation measures. Both delegations emphasized the need for enhanced training and capacity-building in the tourism and hospitality industry, agreeing to pursue joint training programs and exchange initiatives to uplift service delivery.
Hon. Sikumba noted that simplifying travel between Zambia and Ghana through visa waivers and improved travel protocols would be a vital step in encouraging greater tourist and investor movement. Such initiatives are expected to bolster economic growth and promote deeper people-to-people connections.
