Chilanga Cement CEO Honoured as Africa’s Top Cement Manufacturing Professional for 2025
Chai Jianping, Chief Executive Officer of Chilanga Cement Plc, has been named Africa’s Most Outstanding Professional in Cement Manufacturing at the 4th Africa Outstanding Professionals Awards (AFROPA) held on April 3, 2025, in The Gambia.
The prestigious continental recognition, organized by The Business Executive, celebrates exemplary professionals who have demonstrated leadership excellence and innovation in their respective industries. Mr. Chai was honoured for his transformational leadership since the acquisition of Chilanga Cement by Huaxin Group three years ago.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Chai dedicated the award to his team: “I dedicate this award to the Chilanga Cement Board and Huaxin Management for their continuous trust and support. I also extend my deepest gratitude to my management team and the dedicated employees of Chilanga Cement Plc. Your hard work, commitment, and shared vision have been instrumental in driving our success.”
Since assuming office in 2021, Mr. Chai has overseen a major turnaround of Chilanga Cement, marked by increased investments, economic growth, and job creation. He has championed plant modernization, new product development, and process optimization, while fostering cultural integration and talent development.
Under his leadership, Chilanga Cement has become one of Zambia’s top dividend-paying companies for three consecutive years. It has also received several awards, including being named Best-Performing Overseas Company by Huaxin Group and earning accolades from the Zambia Federation of Employers, the Zambia Environmental Management Agency, and the CSR Network Zambia.
In 2024, Mr. Chai was also named CSR Leader of the Year, acknowledging his commitment to sustainable development, community upliftment, and environmental stewardship.
