LDCs Urged to Strengthen Implementation of the Doha Programme of Action
Least Developed Countries (LDCs) have been urged to enhance the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the Doha Programme of Action (DPoA) to accelerate sustainable development.
Speaking at a recent workshop, Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, emphasized the need for LDCs to integrate the DPoA into their national development plans to achieve tangible results.
She commended the workshop for providing a platform for experience sharing and progress assessment, encouraging LDC Focal Points to leverage the knowledge gained to maximize the impact of UN investments in the process.
Ms. Gundersen also acknowledged the UN Office of the High Representative for LDCs, Landlocked Developing Countries, and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) for its role in supporting the Network of LDC Focal Points, ensuring sustained momentum in DPoA implementation.
Her remarks highlighted the importance of collective action, shared responsibility, and strategic planning in advancing sustainable development for the world’s most vulnerable economies.
The LDC Future Forum remains a key platform for dialogue, innovation, and progress, driving efforts toward achieving the global development agenda.
