Emirates Group Moves to World’s Largest Solar-Powered Data Centre

The Emirates Group has partnered with Moro Hub, a subsidiary of Digital DEWA, to relocate its data centre operations to the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

This transition marks a significant milestone in the Group’s commitment to sustainability and technological advancement, as Moro Hub is the world’s largest solar-powered data centre, officially certified by the Guinness World Records™.

The move aligns with the Emirates Group’s long-term growth strategy, reinforcing its operational resilience and scalability. The transition to Moro Hub’s facilities is set to begin in mid-2026, with the hub providing comprehensive co-location services, including rack space, power, cooling, and equipment supply.

By leveraging solar energy, the Emirates Group will significantly reduce its carbon footprint, consuming clean energy equivalent to 3,000 megawatts annually to power its data centre operations.

The agreement was formalized in the presence of HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), with the signing conducted by Michael Doersam, Chief Financial & Group Services Officer at Emirates Group, and Eng. Marwan Bin Haidar, Vice Chairman & Group CEO of Digital DEWA.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer stated: “Guided by the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai continues to lead in sustainable digital innovation, in alignment with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.

This collaboration with the Emirates Group strengthens our commitment to sustainability and reinforces Dubai’s leadership in sustainable aviation. Moro Hub will drive economic growth while ensuring a future powered by innovation and clean energy.”

Michael Doersam emphasized the strategic importance of the transition, stating, “Our partnership with Moro Hub marks a significant step in our technology landscape. This move enhances our operational resilience, scalability, and environmental sustainability, demonstrating our commitment to a greener, tech-driven future. By transitioning to Moro Hub’s solar-powered infrastructure, we are actively contributing to Dubai’s ambition of being a global leader in sustainable innovation.”
