Zambia Digital Week 2025: Driving Innovation for a More Connected Zambia
Zambia has kicked off its highly anticipated Digital Week 2025, a landmark conference held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre from March 24 to 26. Under the theme “Driving Innovation for a More Connected and Intelligent Zambia,” the event has attracted key stakeholders from both the public and private sectors to explore the nation’s digital transformation agenda.
Minister of Technology and Science, Honourable Felix C. Mutati, MP, officiated as the Guest of Honour, emphasizing the importance of innovation in shaping Zambia’s future.
He highlighted that digital transformation is not an end in itself, but a tool for addressing real-world challenges, including improved financial services, governance, and public service delivery.
“This strategy is a powerful testament to our commitment to innovation. We must lay a solid foundation in technology, research, and skills development to transform our challenges into solutions that create happiness and drive sustainable development,” said Hon. Mutati.
The conference features major stakeholders including Loita Capital Partners International, Smart Africa, Afreximbank, and Invest Africa, who are engaging in discussions around:
- FinTech innovations and financial sector policies
- Cross-border payments and financial inclusion
- AI integration and emerging technologies
- Strengthening Zambia’s digital infrastructure
Zambia’s digital transformation roadmap aligns with the government’s vision to create a more competitive, agile, and innovative smart economy. The Ministry of Technology and Science has been actively engaging market players through regulatory sandboxes to develop risk-based, fit-for-purpose policies, further solidifying Zambia’s reputation as an investment hub.
With the rapid evolution of technology reshaping industries—from financial markets to healthcare and government services—stakeholders at Digital Week 2025 are exploring ways to accelerate Zambia’s digital public infrastructure. The government aims to drive progress by fostering strategic partnerships in key areas such as:
- Fibre and cloud services
- Enhanced connectivity and network expansion
- Data protection and cybersecurity
- AI-driven solutions for governance and service delivery
As Zambia continues on its journey toward meaningful digital connectivity, Hon. Mutati reaffirmed the government’s bold stance on innovation. “We are committed to creating an enabling environment where innovation and regulation work hand in hand to unlock new opportunities for our people,” he stated.
