Zambia U17 Women’s National Team Vows to Secure Victory Against Tanzania

Zambia U17 Women’s National Team coach Carol Kanyemba has assured fans that the team is fully prepared to secure a win in Saturday’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup second round, second leg qualifier against Tanzania at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference on Friday, Kanyemba emphasized that despite holding a 3-0 advantage from the first leg in Dar es Salaam, the job is far from over.

“The first leg win gives us an advantage but hasn’t finished the job. We have another 90 minutes to play, and we have told our girls not to be complacent because anything can happen in football. We need to stay focused and continue from where we left off,” Kanyemba stated.

Kanyemba highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline and working hard to meet the expectations of the fans and supporters who have stood by the team.

“We need this more than anything. Everyone has been backing us, and we are not ready to disappoint our fans. The girls understand what is at stake and have promised to deliver a positive result to advance to the next round,” she added.

Team captain Mercy Chipasula echoed her coach’s sentiments, urging her teammates to stay focused and take full advantage of playing on home soil.

“We played well in Tanzania after a tough first half, but that game is behind us. This is a new challenge, and we must approach it with the same hunger and discipline. We are calling on our fans to come out in numbers and support us because their presence gives us extra motivation,” said the Kamfinsa Blue Eagles captain.

A win on Saturday will see Zambia progress to the third round of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, where they will face the winner of the Benin versus DR Congo tie.
