President Hichilema Reaffirms Commitment to Youth Empowerment at 2025 National Youth Indaba
President Hakainde Hichilema delivered a powerful message of hope and empowerment to Zambia’s youth during his address at the 2025 National Youth Indaba today.
The event saw a gathering of vibrant young people, where the President reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving the welfare of the nation’s youth and driving economic growth.
“Our vision remains clear: to double Zambia’s economy, creating jobs and business opportunities for our youths,” President Hichilema stated. He highlighted the government’s introduction of tailored policies to support youth empowerment, urging young people to seize opportunities in key sectors such as energy and agriculture to become innovative entrepreneurs.
The President also called on quasi-government institutions and the private sector to play a crucial role by expanding internship and mentorship programs, fostering a supportive environment for the development of Zambia’s youth. “We must work together to build a robust ecosystem where our young people can thrive,” he said.
In his speech, Hichilema emphasized the importance of inclusivity, particularly for marginalized groups, including women and youth, in Zambia’s governance. “Our government is resolute in promoting the participation of marginalized groups in our national development,” he noted.
Finally, the President urged Zambia’s youth to embody values of hard work, integrity, and responsible behavior as they pursue their dreams and contribute to a stronger, more prosperous nation.
“We must unite in building a Zambia where young people’s dreams are nurtured and realized,” Hichilema concluded.
