Zambia Calls for Increased French Investments as High-Level Talks Advance Economic Cooperation

Zambia’s Minister of Finance and National Planning, Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, held a bilateral meeting with France’s Minister of State for International Partnerships & Francophonie, Mr. Thani Mohamed Soilihi, to discuss enhanced economic cooperation between the two nations.

During the meeting, held in Lusaka, Dr. Musokotwane lauded France’s pivotal role in Zambia’s debt restructuring process and extended an invitation to French investors to scale up their participation in key economic sectors such as commercial agriculture, mining, tourism, and infrastructure development through Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs).

In response, Mr. Soilihi assured Zambia of France’s continued economic engagement, announcing that a business delegation of over 20 French companies will soon visit Zambia to explore investment opportunities.

“We are here to stay,” Mr. Soilihi stated, emphasizing that French investments in Zambia will be tangible, focusing on skills transfer, job creation, and mutual benefits.

Accompanying the French delegation was His Excellency Thomas Rossignol, Ambassador of France to Zambia, alongside senior officials from both nations.
