Small-Scale Farmers Vital for Improving Livelihoods—Hon. Elias Mubanga
Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Hon. Elias Mubanga, has praised small-scale farmers for their vital role in contributing to Zambia’s food security.
Speaking during a courtesy call on Senior Chief Mushota of the Chishinga people in Kawambwa District, Luapula Province, Mubanga emphasized the government’s commitment to enhancing the agricultural sector and improving livelihoods through support for farmers.
“We thank God for the abundant rainfall this farming season. I am impressed by the maize fields and the opportunities they present for agricultural growth,” said Mubanga, encouraging farmers to take full advantage of the government’s empowerment schemes and agricultural support programs to boost productivity.
Senior Chief Mushota also expressed his gratitude for the government’s ongoing efforts to support farmers across Zambia, stressing the importance of such initiatives for economic growth.
Earlier in the day, Hon. Mubanga attended a church service at St. Luke’s UCZ in Pambashe Constituency, where he urged the church community to continue promoting peace, love, and unity.
He highlighted that sustainable development can be achieved through strong partnerships between the government, the church, and local communities.
Hon. Mubanga is part of a ministerial delegation touring Luapula Province to sensitize the public on government initiatives aimed at improving citizens’ welfare.
