Lusaka Mayor Launches Second Round of Youth Climate Action Fund
Lusaka Mayor, Her Worship Ms. Chilando Chitangala, has officially launched the second phase of the Youth Climate Action Fund to support youth-led climate initiatives.
Speaking at the Civic Centre on January 24, Ms. Chitangala emphasized the city’s commitment to empowering young people to combat climate change.
Supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies, in partnership with United Cities and Local Governments and the Bloomberg Center for Public Innovation, the fund encourages innovative solutions for climate resilience.
The Mayor highlighted the success of the first phase, where 11 youth organizations implemented impactful projects. “This success attracted an additional $100,000, bringing total funding to $150,000,” she said.
Lusaka Town Clerk Eng. Liftery Ndaba praised the initiative as a testament to the city’s dedication to youth-driven climate action.
