Zambia Urged to Fight Climate Change Through Tree-Planting

Dr. Oliver Kandela Bulaya, a leading advocate for Climate-Smart Agriculture and Project Coordinator for the Conservation Farming Unit, has called on Zambians to unite in combating climate change through tree planting.

Speaking on the growing impacts of climate change, Dr. Bulaya highlighted deforestation as a key challenge.

He urged citizens from all walks of life to adopt sustainable practices that protect the environment, emphasizing that “climate change is a present reality affecting us all.”

Dr. Bulaya expressed concern over the declining tree cover around rivers and watersheds, which has worsened water retention issues and climate effects.

He stressed the importance of restoring these ecosystems to safeguard Zambia’s natural resources.

Commending reforestation organizations, Dr. Bulaya called for greater participation from schools, businesses, hospitals, and local communities in tree-planting efforts.

“Together, we can reverse deforestation and enhance our landscapes,” he stated, urging every Zambian to “arise and be counted” in this critical mission.

Dr. Bulaya’s call to action underscores the collective responsibility to secure a greener and sustainable future for Zambia.
