PPDF Calls for Enhanced Collaboration Following 3rd Private Sector Day

The Public-Private Dialogue Forum (PPDF) has reinforced President Hakainde Hichilema’s appeal for greater synergy between the public and private sectors following the successful hosting of the 3rd Private Sector Day (PSD) in Lusaka last week.

The landmark event, chaired by President Hichilema, brought together over 1,000 stakeholders from diverse sectors, including civil society and cooperating partners. The participants reviewed the progress of reforms facilitated by the PPDF and discussed the theme, “Embracing Sustainability: Unlocking Economic Opportunities in the Face of Climate Change and Drought.”

President Hichilema emphasized using the PPDF as a platform to address critical challenges such as climate change, energy insecurity, food scarcity, and youth unemployment. He called for sectoral targets in areas like agriculture, energy, mining, tourism, and education, ensuring measurable improvements in citizens’ livelihoods and economic growth.

In alignment with the President’s vision, the PPDF urged private sector players to submit sector-specific challenges at both district and national levels to enhance decision-making and implementation. Civil society organizations (CSOs) and cooperating partners were encouraged to facilitate dialogue at sub-national levels for more inclusive solutions.

Looking to the future, the PPDF aims to broaden stakeholder engagement by registering CEOs and executive representatives in its database, fostering better collaboration and participation in national decision-making. The Forum is also prioritizing partnerships with industries to employ Gen Z and Gen Alpha talent, addressing workforce needs and driving innovation.

To sustain this momentum, the PPDF is inviting partners to support its Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings in 2025 and beyond. These TWGs are instrumental in developing sector-specific policies and strategies that foster economic transformation.

Jacqueline Chishimba, Director of Strategic Communication & Partnerships at the PPDF, reiterated the Forum’s commitment to driving Zambia’s economic transformation through grassroots engagement, sustainable reforms, and targeted collaborations.
