ZAMMSA Reassures Public on Adequate Supply of Condoms Nationwide
The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has assured the public of a sufficient and reliable supply of condoms across the country, with over 32 million male condoms currently in stock.
In an official statement, Bradley Chingobe, Senior Manager – Corporate Communications, confirmed that the current stock of condoms provides more than four months of coverage, meeting national demand based on current consumption trends. This reassurance comes in response to recent inaccurate reports claiming a shortage.
ZAMMSA clarified that over three million condoms are ready for immediate distribution, with an additional 29 million undergoing routine quality assurance tests to ensure the highest safety and efficacy standards.
These rigorous measures are part of ZAMMSA’s commitment to promoting public health by preventing sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and HIV/AIDS, while also supporting family planning efforts and reproductive health.
Mr. Chingobe emphasized that the availability of condoms is a critical element in promoting safe sexual practices and preventing unplanned pregnancies, which directly contributes to the overall health and well-being of the Zambian population.
