The Zambian Government, through the Road Development Agency (RDA), has entered into a $145.3 million concession agreement with Borderway Capital Investments to upgrade the 111-kilometer Solwezi-Kipushi Road to bituminous standard.

The project also includes the development of border infrastructure at Kipushi in the North-Western Province.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held at Yowela School in Kipushi, Infrastructure, Housing, and Urban Development Minister, Hon. Eng. Charles Lubasi Milupi, emphasized the project’s significance in advancing trade and economic growth.

He noted that the 25-year concession period comprises three years for construction and 22 years for operation and maintenance.

“This initiative aligns with President Hakainde Hichilema’s commitment to driving economic growth by enhancing Zambia’s trade connectivity with neighboring countries,” Hon. Milupi stated.

Finance and National Planning Minister, Hon. Dr. Situmbeko Musokotwane, highlighted the critical role the Solwezi-Kipushi Road will play in strengthening the country’s economic agenda.
