ZDA and CEEC Sign MoU to Boost Support for Zambian SMEs
The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and the Citizens Economic Empowerment Commission (CEEC) have formalized a partnership aimed at bolstering support for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) across Zambia.
This strategic collaboration was established through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed at ZDA headquarters, with the aim of offering SMEs a comprehensive range of Business Development Services (BDS), including both financial and non-financial support.
ZDA Director General Albert Halwampa highlighted the MoU as a “pivotal step” toward addressing the challenges faced by SMEs. He emphasized that the partnership creates a structured framework, allowing ZDA and CEEC to leverage their combined strengths in entrepreneurship development and resource provision to assist MSMEs in scaling up.
“Together, we will help unlock the full potential of local businesses, which will help them grow into big businesses,” stated Halwampa.
CEEC Director General Dr. Muwe Mungule reinforced the partnership’s potential for fostering sustainable development and economic growth. He noted that the MoU would empower funded SMEs and cooperatives, providing them with access to expanded market opportunities.
The initiative aims to link these enterprises with local supermarkets and regional markets, including the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), increasing their competitiveness and market reach.
Dr. Mungule also emphasized the significance of this long-awaited collaboration, describing it as a strategically important move that would amplify outcomes for SMEs across Zambia
