Access Bank Zambia Launches Core Banking System Integration with Former Atlas Mara

Access Bank Zambia Limited (“Access Bank”) has officially commenced the integration of its Core Banking Systems following the successful amalgamation of Access Bank and Atlas Mara Zambia on 30th April 2024.

This strategic move aims to deliver a seamless, unified banking experience for customers, with the integration set to be completed by 18th November 2024.

The system integration marks a pivotal milestone in Access Bank’s vision to set a new standard in digital banking, operational efficiency, and customer service. Once fully integrated, the bank’s operations will be consolidated onto a single, robust platform, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Access Bank’s Managing Director, Lishala C. Situmbeko, emphasized the significance of the integration, stating, “This is a transformative step in our journey to deliver a streamlined, efficient, and customer-centric experience. Through this harmonization, we aim to drive innovation and improve service delivery, ensuring our customers benefit from being part of a larger, Pan-African banking network.”

The integration will bring several key changes, including the updating of former Atlas Mara sort codes and SWIFT codes. Effective from 18th November 2024, Access Bank Zambia’s new SWIFT code (AZAMZMLU) will replace the former Atlas Mara Swift Code. Customers are advised to update their records to avoid delays in international transactions.

“Customers remain our priority throughout this transition,” said Bobbline Cheembela, Deputy Managing Director for Retail Banking and Operations. “Account numbers will not change, and the bank will continue to process transfers with previous details until a specified cut-off date. We urge customers to adopt the revised details as soon as they are effected.”

Deputy Managing Director for Wholesale Banking, Iheanyi Nwogu, added, “Our operating systems are an essential part of our growth strategy. This integration underscores our commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, reinforcing our dedication to serving our clients and the broader community.”

Access Bank Zambia has implemented comprehensive risk mitigation measures to ensure a smooth transition throughout this process. The bank will continue to provide regular updates to customers and stakeholders, ensuring transparency and minimal disruption.
