Zambia and India Strengthen Diplomatic Relations through 6th Joint Permanent Commission Session
Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, S.C, M.P., Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, hosted Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh, India’s Minister of State for External Affairs and Environment, Forest and Climate Change, in Lusaka today. The meeting took place at Charter House, marking a milestone in Zambia-India relations, which have spanned over six decades.
The two Ministers recognized the shared values and longstanding diplomatic ties that underpin their relationship. They emphasized the importance of enhancing collaboration in critical sectors, including technology, agriculture, and energy.
Shri Singh’s visit coincides with the 6th Session of the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) on Cooperation between Zambia and India, set to take place at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre.
Led by Hon. Haimbe, the Zambian delegation will include officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with representatives from line ministries, statutory bodies, and other stakeholders.
The JPC session aims to review the progress made since the previous session and explore new avenues of cooperation across sectors such as foreign affairs, defense, energy, trade, agriculture, tourism, education, science, and water development.
The JPC follows significant high-level engagements between the two countries, including recent Foreign Office Consultations held in New Delhi and Lusaka. Both governments reaffirmed their commitment to fostering bilateral ties, with discussions aimed at mutual benefit and continued growth.
