Emirates Resumes Daily Flights to Adelaide, Boosting Tourism and Trade
Emirates has reintroduced its daily EK440/441 service between Dubai and Adelaide, marking a significant boost to South Australia’s tourism and trade sectors. The Boeing 777-200LR, seating 302 passengers, will connect Adelaide to over 140 destinations worldwide, catering to growing travel demand.
The service, offering over 220,400 seats annually, is expected to generate $62 million in tourism spending and create over 315 jobs, according to the South Australian Tourism Commission. Emirates SkyCargo will provide 14 tonnes of cargo capacity per flight, facilitating exports like seafood, meat, and pharmaceuticals valued at $98 million annually, for a combined economic impact of $160 million.
Peter Malinauskas, South Australia’s Premier, welcomed the service, calling it a pivotal moment for the state’s global connectivity and economic growth. “This reconnection to Dubai and beyond will benefit our economy, creating jobs and opening up new opportunities for trade and tourism,” he said.
Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison highlighted the role Emirates will play in enhancing South Australia’s visibility to international markets.
Nabil Sultan, Emirates’ Executive VP for Passenger Sales and Country Management, affirmed the airline’s commitment to Australia, where Emirates now operates 70 weekly flights. On 1 December, Emirates will also reinstate a second daily Perth service, marking a return to pre-pandemic capacity across its Australian network.
The daily service strengthens Adelaide’s ties to major markets in Europe, the Middle East, and the U.S., offering more options for tourists and exporters alike.
