Zambia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Mulambo Haimbe, SC, M.P., has made a strong appeal to global investors, urging them to consider Zambia as a prime investment destination.

Speaking at the Commonwealth Business Forum 2024, held in partnership with BSP Financial Group Ltd in Apia, Samoa, Hon. Haimbe highlighted Zambia’s political stability and favorable business climate under President Hakainde Hichilema’s administration.

“Zambia is open for business,” Hon. Haimbe emphasized, stressing the country’s eagerness to foster economic collaborations. His keynote address resonated with over 20 participating nations, as the forum, chaired by Mr. Asmua Howard Politini of the Pacific Island Private Sector Organisation, focused on driving sustainable business partnerships.

Hon. Haimbe commended the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council for creating an invaluable platform that connects the public and private sectors, saying, “Platforms such as these are critical for driving partnerships that ultimately benefit all involved.”

The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations through the Joint Permanent Commission (JPC), with Zambia set to host the next session.

Additionally, both countries committed to supporting each other’s candidates in upcoming international elections, with Zambia campaigning for the presidency of the African Development Bank (AfDB) in May 2025.

Hon. Haimbe was accompanied by senior government officials, including Ms. Etambuyu Anamela, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Dr. Elias Munshya, Zambia’s High Commissioner to Australia and New Zealand, and Her Excellency Macenje Mazoka, Zambia’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
