Zambeef Unveils State-of-the-Art Wheat Flour Mill in Mpongwe to Boost Zambia’s Food Security
Zambeef Products Plc, a leading agribusiness in Zambia, has officially commissioned its state-of-the-art Wheat Flour Mill Plant at Chambatata Farm in Mpongwe. The new facility has the capacity to process 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat annually, doubling Zambeef’s previous production and marking a significant step towards enhancing Zambia’s food security.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by President Hakainde Hichilema, along with key government officials, corporate executives, and traditional leaders. Speaking at the event, President Hichilema commended Zambeef’s innovative efforts in driving food security and introducing winter maize at the Mpongwe farm.
CEO of Zambeef, Faith Mukutu, highlighted that the plant not only increases processing capacity but also creates export opportunities in neighboring markets. Agriculture Minister Hon. Reuben Mtolo Phiri lauded the project’s impact on national food security, job creation, and regional economic growth.
The wheat mill is part of Zambeef’s broader $100 million expansion plan aimed at strengthening Zambia’s agricultural infrastructure and supporting local farmers. This investment aligns with the company’s ongoing efforts to contribute to Zambia’s economic development.
