The Digital Government Africa (DGA) 2024 Summit concluded successfully at the Lusaka International Convention Centre in Chongwe, with African nations coming together to champion digital transformation across the continent.
The summit, which saw participation from key government leaders and technology experts, emphasized the importance of collaboration in advancing Africa’s digital future.
Zambia’s Minister of Technology and Science, Hon. Felix Mutati, extended his gratitude to the attendees, noting that the event marked a significant step toward creating continental connectivity and sharing opportunities.
He also highlighted the need for African countries to learn from one another, pointing to Nigeria’s success in generating revenue through digital platforms as an example for Zambia, whose primary revenue source is copper.
“Partnership, collaboration, and creating platforms and solutions are crucial,” Hon. Mutati said. He echoed President Hakainde Hichilema’s sentiment that digital transformation must improve lives to be meaningful, saying, “If digital transformation doesn’t positively impact lives, why have it?”
SMART Zambia Institute’s National Coordinator, Mr. Percy Chinyama, expressed his satisfaction with the summit’s achievements. “We’re thrilled to have fostered meaningful connections among African nations. This marks the beginning of a transformative journey,” Chinyama said.
He expressed optimism that the collective efforts discussed during the summit would bring tangible results, improving lives across Africa and ensuring that no country is left behind.
