Paratus and LEO Satellite Solutions Set to Unlock Africa’s Potential
Paratus Group, a leading pan-African telco, has announced the expansion of its LEO (Low Earth Orbit) satellite solutions to clients in South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, and Zambia. Speaking at the Atlantic Convergence conference in Lisbon, Paratus’ Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Rolf Mendelsohn, emphasized the pivotal role of LEO technology in unlocking Africa’s vast potential through reliable, fast, and secure connectivity.
“Reliable connectivity is the key to unlocking Africa’s potential,” Mendelsohn stated. “LEO satellite technology allows us to provide unlimited, high-speed connectivity to our existing markets, with plans to expand further across the continent.”
Paratus, already operating an extensive V-SAT network with Teleport facilities in Angola, Botswana, Namibia, and South Africa, aims to complement its robust infrastructure with LEO satellite offerings. This development is especially crucial for industries such as retail, healthcare, education, mining, and oil and gas, where seamless, high-speed connections are essential – even in remote or offshore areas.
Mendelsohn highlighted the strategic partnerships Paratus has formed with global LEO satellite operators. “Our service is unique because we manage installations, stock, and technical support 24/7, providing tailored solutions across Africa. We have recently launched Starlink services in Botswana, Mozambique, and Zambia, with plans for more countries as regulatory conditions allow.”
With its investment in state-of-the-art infrastructure, including Tier III data centers, fiber networks, and subsea cables like Google’s Equiano, Paratus is set to become Africa’s top connectivity provider. “Paratus is the one-stop solution for enterprises needing robust and stable connections, ensuring that Africa stays connected to the world,” Mendelsohn added.
