Hon. Mutati Holds Bilateral Talks with African Ministers at Digital Government Africa Summit
Zambia’s Technology and Science Minister, Hon. Felix Mutati, engaged in bilateral discussions with Ministers from various African countries during the 2024 Digital Government Africa Summit held in Chongwe.
The talks focused on strengthening cooperation in the fields of technology and science, with a particular emphasis on digital innovation and regulatory frameworks.
Hon. Mutati met with Ministers from Burundi, Seychelles, Somalia, Tanzania, and South Sudan. In a key meeting with Burundian Minister of Communication, Information Technology, and Media, Hon. Léocadie Ndacayisaba, the discussions revolved around digital economy, artificial intelligence, and telecommunications regulations.
Both Ministers tasked their respective technocrats with preparing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) in these areas for possible future cooperation. The MoUs are expected to be signed before the Burundian delegation departs at the end of the summit.
Hon. Mutati was accompanied by a Zambian delegation that included Director of Communication and Digital Technologies Mr. Milner Makuni, Director of Science and Technology Dr. Larry Mweetwa, Assistant Director Communications Mr. Khumbuzo Nkunika, and Senior Planner Mr. Bonaventure Mutale.
