ZAM Calls for Stronger Partnerships with Canada through Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives
The Zambia Association of Manufacturers (ZAM) President, Ashu Sagar, has called for enhanced partnerships with Canada through the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI) to boost Zambia’s manufacturing sector.
Speaking at a Competitiveness Workshop in Lusaka, Mr. Sagar highlighted the importance of these collaborations in fostering long-term development and expanding market opportunities.
“This partnership is crucial in advancing long-term development programs that will drive the manufacturing industry forward,” Mr. Sagar emphasized.
He noted that the workshop, a result of cooperation between ZAM and the CFLI, marks a significant step in aligning Zambia’s industrial goals with international expertise.
The workshop will be followed by a three-month mentorship program designed to instill practical skills in local firms and SMEs, helping them tap into the export market.
“Our economy benefits when we expose opportunities beyond the limitations of the domestic economy,” Mr. Sagar added, emphasizing the importance of learning how to navigate export markets.
Meanwhile, Corry Van Gaal, Head of Office at the Canadian High Commission in Zambia, expressed her pleasure at the successful commencement of the workshop.
She highlighted the Canadian Fund for Local Initiatives’ role in empowering local businesses by providing essential tools and knowledge to expand into international markets.
