ZRA Recovers Over K1.4 Million in Evasion Case

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has successfully recovered K1,493,307.52 from Stephane Mining Imports and Exports Limited.

The company was convicted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court in Kitwe for falsifying export documents to evade taxes.

Between January 1 and March 30, 2024, the firm misrepresented Zinc Ore as Zinc concentrate, resulting in significant tax evasion. The ZRA intercepted six trucks carrying the ore.

Following a plea negotiation, the firm has paid the evaded taxes in full and reimbursed K100,000 for prosecution costs.

Additionally, the seized trucks and Copper Ore bags have been released to ZRA for further action.
