Zambia Leads in Global Anti-Doping Policy Talks at UNESCO
Zambia’s Permanent Secretary of Youth, Sport, and Arts, Mr. Kangwa Chileshe, has reaffirmed the nation’s critical role in global anti-doping discussions.
Chairing the Second Formal Open-Ended Working Group at UNESCO in Paris, Mr. Chileshe stressed the importance of Zambia’s inclusion in shaping worldwide anti-doping policies.
He emphasized that Zambia’s active participation ensures the country’s perspectives are considered as global regulations evolve.
Mr. Chileshe highlighted Zambia’s leadership in this space, a reflection of President Hakainde Hichilema’s high standards in governance. The group, tasked with enhancing the Convention’s impact, aims to increase global collaboration, sustainability, and policy effectiveness.
Meanwhile, anti-doping expert Mr. Raphael Mulenga outlined key domains vital to the Convention’s success, including improving contributions to the anti-doping fund, strengthening UNESCO’s monitoring system, establishing dispute resolution mechanisms, and harmonizing efforts between UNESCO and the World Anti-Doping Agency.
Accompanied by Director of Sport Mr. John C. Zulu and Mr. Mulenga, Mr. Chileshe’s leadership underscores Zambia’s influential role in fostering an open and inclusive dialogue within the global anti-doping community. The meeting further solidified Member States’ commitment to combatting doping in sports worldwide.
