Zambian Breweries Boosts Retailers with GRIT Programme

Zambian Breweries is making significant strides in supporting local businesses with its Retailer Development Programme, GRIT (Growing Retailers Innovatively Together). This month, the company successfully trained a third cohort of 130 retailers, with plans to train a total of 500 by the end of 2024.

The two-day training event covered crucial aspects of retail management, including stock and sales management, marketing strategies, and profit analysis.

The course also emphasized responsible selling and beer mastery. Participants were also given the chance to win branded items, adding an engaging element to the programme.

Tawanda Hojane, Legal and Corporate Affairs Director at Zambian Breweries, emphasized the programme’s role in empowering local retailers.

“Our goal is to provide retailers with the skills to run sustainable businesses and scale their operations,” he said. “This initiative reflects our broader mission to contribute positively to our community.”

Retailer Mishek Muyumbwe praised the training for enhancing his stock management and investment diversification.

Faith Zodwa Manda, another participant, endorsed the programme, noting its importance in addressing issues like the sale of illicit alcohol.
