Retired General Grade Officers Honored for Distinguished Service
At a dignified ceremony held at Army Headquarters, the Zambia Army honored retired General Grade Officers for their exceptional contributions to the military and the nation.
These officers, who began their careers as civilians with limited military experience, have witnessed and contributed to the Zambia Army’s growth and expansion over the years.
Lieutenant General Sitali Dennis Alibuzwi, Commander of the Zambia Army, addressed the retirees, urging them to continue representing the Army with honor and pride in their civilian lives.
He emphasized that their departure from the Army was not just a routine event but a celebration of their dedicated service and sacrifices.
Lt Gen Alibuzwi highlighted that the mementos and certificates awarded to the retirees were a testament to their exceptional contributions. The ceremony was a chance for the Army to express its deep gratitude and respect for their service.
Former Chief of Defence Intelligence Brigadier General Oscar Chapula (Rtd) spoke on behalf of the recipients, thanking the Army Command for the recognition and pledging continued support and contributions to the Army in any capacity.
The officers honored included Brigadier General Oscar Chapula, Brigadier General Francis Kagwanda, Colonel Marcos Uteka, Colonel David Ndhovu, and Colonel Bryson Kapalu.
They were recognized for their dedicated service in various capacities, including legal services, health sciences, and military education.
The event was attended by Deputy Army Commander and Chief of Staff Major General Geoffrey Choongo Zyeele, along with other senior members of the Army, marking a significant moment of reflection and appreciation for the retiring officers’ distinguished careers.
