Emirates Gears Up for Busy Period with Unaccompanied Minors Service

As the new school year approaches, Emirates is preparing for one of the busiest periods for its Unaccompanied Minors Service. The airline, which offers daily direct flights from Lusaka to Dubai, expects to welcome over 900 children traveling alone in the coming week.

Over the past five years, more than 120,000 children have used Emirates’ Unaccompanied Minors and Young Passenger services, with most travelers aged 11 years or younger. British, Indian, American, Filipino, and French families are the top users of the service.

Emirates’ Unaccompanied Minors Service ensures that children aged 5 to 11 enjoy a safe, supervised, and enjoyable journey. At Dubai International Airport (DXB), young flyers are welcomed at the Unaccompanied Minors Lounge, where they can relax with video games, complimentary snacks, and Wi-Fi. From check-in to arrival at their destination, a dedicated Emirates specialist accompanies the child, providing support and supervision throughout the journey.

Onboard, children can enjoy free Wi-Fi, a selection of toys, and a vast array of entertainment, including the latest movies and classic series. Emirates cabin crew are on hand to ensure young travelers have a comfortable and memorable experience. For those celebrating birthdays, parents can pre-order a cake, and the crew will capture special moments with a Polaroid camera.

Emirates also offers support for older children aged 12 to 15, who can fly alone without using the Unaccompanied Minors Service. However, for an additional fee, parents can request extra support and supervision for their solo travelers.

The airline emphasizes the importance of safety, particularly for children on connecting flights. Emirates limits the maximum connection time for young passengers to 8 hours and provides access to the Unaccompanied Minors Lounge during layovers.

Parents can book the Unaccompanied Minors Service up to 12 hours before departure through Emirates LiveChat, by calling 00971600555555, or through any local Emirates office.
