President Hichilema Commissions Chamboli and Chimwemwe Level 1 Hospitals in Kitwe
President Hakainde Hichilema officially commissioned and handed over the newly constructed Chamboli and Chimwemwe Level 1 Hospitals to the communities in Kitwe, reaffirming the government’s commitment to delivering accessible healthcare services.
The commissioning follows the recent inauguration of the Chililabombwe District Hospital, marking a significant milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to bring healthcare closer to the people.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, President Hichilema emphasized that the government prioritizes providing quality healthcare within communities. “These hospitals are not just buildings; they are beacons of hope where healing takes place, lives are saved, and hope is restored,” he said.
The Chamboli and Chimwemwe hospitals are equipped to offer a comprehensive range of services, including outpatient care, antiretroviral therapy, maternity services, physiotherapy, dental services, ophthalmology, laboratory services, and radiology, featuring state-of-the-art CT scan machines.
The hospitals also house emergency and casualty units, theatre services, and in-patient facilities, ensuring that the Kitwe community has access to essential healthcare services.
President Hichilema urged the residents of Chimwemwe, Chamboli, and the broader Kitwe area to take ownership of these facilities, protecting them from vandalism and theft. “These hospitals belong to you. Guard them zealously to ensure they continue to serve your healthcare needs,” he implored.
The President also extended profound gratitude to the governments of Japan and the United Kingdom, which funded the construction of the Chamboli and Chimwemwe Level 1 Hospitals, respectively. Their contributions were instrumental in bringing these vital healthcare services to the people of Kitwe.
