Hon. Elvis Nkandu Officiates at 2024 FNB Zambia and VAC Visual Arts Awards
The Minister of Youth, Sport, and Arts, Hon. Elvis Nkandu, MP, presided over the 2024 FNB Zambia and Visual Arts Council (VAC) visual arts awards ceremony in Lusaka.
The event celebrated the excellence and dedication of artists who captured FNB Zambia’s 15-year milestone and Zambia’s 60th Independence Anniversary through their artwork.
Launched on April 9th, 2024, the competition attracted 126 entries from across Zambia’s ten provinces, with the top three winners emerging from a pool of 50 shortlisted candidates.
The winners walked away with the following prizes: 1st Prize: ZMW 60,000, 2nd Prize: ZMW 50,000 and 3rd Prize: ZMW 40,000
In his remarks, Hon. Nkandu highlighted the importance of collaboration and partnerships in advancing the arts sector, emphasizing the government’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for artists.
He noted that the unveiling of the National Arts Policy in March 2024 marked a significant step towards fostering creativity and innovation.
“The government is working tirelessly to develop arts infrastructure, which is crucial for providing spaces where artists can create, exhibit, and collaborate. This investment is essential for the growth of the arts sector,” said Hon. Nkandu.
He commended FNB Zambia and VAC for their role in promoting visual arts and congratulated the winners for their remarkable talent and perseverance.
