LCC Engages Business Community on Drainage Challenges in Chinika Ward
The Lusaka City Council (LCC) held a crucial stakeholder meeting with local business owners in Kanyama’s Chinika Ward to address the issue of affluent discharge and drainage blockages along Mumba and Nampundwe roads.
Councillor Masautso Ngoma, who chaired the meeting, emphasized the importance of a collaborative approach between the business community and local authorities to resolve these environmental challenges.
Ngoma urged businesses to take responsibility for maintaining a safe and clean trading environment, stressing that those operating in the affected area contribute to the drainage issues and should actively participate in finding sustainable solutions.
“Businesses operating along this stretch of road also contribute to the problem,” Ngoma said. “It is part of their corporate social responsibility to help maintain a healthy and clean environment for their customers and the community.”
The meeting highlighted the need for joint financing modalities to address the affluent discharge and drainage issues effectively.
Ngoma praised the business community for their positive response and commitment to working together on a comprehensive action plan to tackle the drainage problems.
