Health Minister Muchima Confirms Ample Medical Supplies at UTHs and ZAMMSA
Health Minister Elijah Muchima toured the University Teaching Hospitals (UTHs) and the Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) to assess stock availability and compliance levels.
Contrary to recent negative reports, Dr. Muchima expressed satisfaction with the current stock levels of essential medicines and medical supplies at both institutions.
Dr. Muchima assured the public that the Ministry of Health is committed to expediting the distribution of essential medicines and supplies to all health facilities nationwide, including hard-to-reach areas.
He emphasized that timely distribution is crucial and that any wastage of medicines will not be tolerated under his leadership.
During the tour, Dr. Muchima addressed journalists, noting that he is awaiting a comprehensive report on alleged expired drugs.
He reinforced the ministry’s dedication to ensuring that medical supplies are distributed efficiently and effectively to meet the needs of all citizens.
The minister also held a closed-door meeting with ZAMMSA’s top management to discuss critical issues affecting the Ministry of Health.
He was accompanied by Health Permanent Secretaries, other top government officials, and members of the media.
