President Hichilema Commissions Officer Cadets at Kafue ZNS Military Training School
President Hakainde Hichilema has today commissioned a new cohort of Officer Cadets at the Kafue Zambia National Service (ZNS) Military Training School.
The event underscores the government’s commitment to instilling military, entrepreneurship skills, and discipline among young Zambians, a vision initiated by Founding President Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda.
The ZNS, established to equip young Zambians with vital skills, has been a cornerstone of national development since its inception. President Hichilema, reflecting on his own experience as part of the 1980 intake, emphasized the enduring significance of this training.
“Today’s ZNS pass-out, like other recent pass-outs from different wings of the Defence Force, gives significant recognition to the youth of Zambia,” President Hichilema said.
He highlighted the government’s parallel efforts in youth recruitment within the health and education sectors, reinforcing the message that the government is dedicated to supporting the youth now and in the future.
The President congratulated the graduating officers for completing nine months of intensive training in various disciplines, commending their bravery, resilience, and discipline.
He urged them to utilize their sense of duty and patriotism to make meaningful contributions to the nation and their communities.
“The Zambia National Service holds a unique position that spans defense, national development, and food security. The service must accelerate its efforts to combat poverty and food insecurity and contribute to providing employment for youths through voluntary skills training,” President Hichilema stated.
President Hichilema reiterated the government’s full commitment to supporting ZNS initiatives in national development, food security, and national security.
