FAZ Launches Nationwide Player Selection Exercise for Men’s Team
The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has announced a nationwide player selection exercise following an Executive Committee meeting held on July 19, 2024.
The initiative, proposed by the Technical Committee, aims to scout and nurture talent across the country.
FAZ General Secretary Reuben Kamanga confirmed the committee’s approval of the proposal, with the selection process set to begin shortly.
“The countrywide selection for male players will involve two streams of teams converging in Lusaka for Southern, Lusaka, Central, Eastern, and Western provinces, while the other batch will include Copperbelt, North Western, Northern, Luapula, and Muchinga,” Kamanga stated.
The top players from each provincial team will compete against each other, and the best squad will face the national team in an All Stars Versus the Rest format.
Kamanga highlighted that outstanding players from this select side may have the opportunity to be drafted into the national team setup.
“We encourage the technical experts in the provinces to bring forward some of the much-talked-about rural talent for the national selectors’ attention,” Kamanga added.
He emphasized that the selection exercise is part of the Technical Director’s broader program to ensure no prospective talent is overlooked.
