Konkola Concentrator and Nchanga Underground Win Inter-departmental First Aid Competition

Konkola Concentrator and Nchanga Underground first aid teams have emerged victorious in the Inter-departmental First Aid competition held on Saturday at Nchanga Stadium in Chingola. The event, dubbed “First Aid for Life,” featured 27 teams from various business units, including company partners.

The competition was divided into two streams: Nchanga versus Nampundwe, and Nkana versus Konkola. Nchanga Concentrator Manager David Mukelabai, who graced the occasion, commended all participants for their efforts and congratulated the winners for their exceptional performance.

“Your achievement is significant, and the tremendous work you’ve displayed here is commendable. I am hopeful that you will continue to excel in the upcoming intercompany first aid competition. Management will continue to support you all the way,” said Mr. Mukelabai. He highlighted the importance of first aid skills in daily life, emphasizing the need for everyone to be prepared.

Dr. Mwiiya Kumwala, representing the Chamber of Mines Council for First Aid, praised KCM management for its ongoing support and commitment to employee health, safety, and environment. He acknowledged the company’s efforts in providing a safe working environment.

UMUZ Nchanga Branch Chairperson Emmanuel Siyingwa, speaking on behalf of the five unions across KCM, also praised the teams for their participation. He congratulated both Konkola Concentrator and Nchanga Underground for securing the top positions in the competition.

The winning teams will represent KCM at the Intercompany First Aid competition scheduled for July 27, 2024, in Luanshya.
