Minister Engages with Small Business Owners in Shiwang’andu District
Hon. Elias Mubanga, Minister of Small and Medium Enterprise Development, recently engaged with local business owners at Matumbo Market in Shiwang’andu District, addressing their concerns and highlighting growth opportunities.
During the interaction, business owners voiced challenges such as difficulty accessing loans, obtaining certifications, and other operational hurdles.
Minister Mubanga reassured them of the government’s commitment to supporting small businesses under the new administration.
“We are dedicated to creating an enabling environment for small businesses to thrive,” Minister Mubanga affirmed, emphasizing the government’s proactive stance.
He encouraged entrepreneurs to collaborate closely with the Ministry’s district office at Shiwang’andu District Administration for expert guidance and crucial information.
Highlighting the region’s agricultural potential, Minister Mubanga urged diversification into agriculture, citing favourable rainfall patterns.
He also urged exploration of opportunities in artisanal mining, particularly in the newly discovered gold deposits in the Mayembe area.
The minister’s visit underscored his commitment to understanding local challenges. He interacted with marketeers selling fresh and dry vegetables and fish, gaining insights into their daily struggles.
“We must work together to harness local resources and opportunities,” Minister Mubanga emphasized, urging cooperation and collective action among small-scale traders.
