The upcoming 2024 Zambia Economic Summit, organized by the Economics Association of Zambia (EAZ), has been hailed as a pivotal initiative for Zambia’s current economic transformation phase, according to Sajeev Nair, Regional Director for Southern and East Africa at CUTS International.
Amidst significant challenges including drought, climate adaptation, inflation, job creation, electricity crisis, and poverty alleviation, Mr. Nair emphasized the summit’s timeliness.
As a proactive think tank, CUTS International will actively participate in discussions at the summit, focusing on critical areas such as debt restructuring, public finance management, and climate change.
Highlighting the strategic alignment of the Economic Summit with CUTS International’s goals, Mr. Nair called for robust engagement from stakeholders across Zambia’s economic sectors.
He stressed the importance of addressing post-debt restructuring, resource mobilization, and sector prioritization, particularly in mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and the informal sector.
